Do I obtain the demolition permit or does the contractor I hire do it?
It depends. In some cases, the demolition contractor might insist on pulling the necessary permits for a job, but this is not always the case; some contractors may insist you get the permits. Having your demolition contractor obtain the permits for you can prove to be a much more stress-free experience, so make sure you confirm with the contractor(s) you speak with whether or not they will handle the permitting process.
Can I file my permit application online?
Yes. All electronic permit requests must be done through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's (NJDEP) Online Business Portal.
